Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a genset and an emergency power system?

A genset provides power in the event of a grid failure — it starts automatically when the public power supply is interrupted. In the event of a failure, the system takes over the complete supply of entire systems, buildings or critical infrastructure. It can also be designed for peak load management or continuous operation. Emergency power systems are more complex, have additional components and are also used remotely where no electricity is available.

How does a backup power supply system work technically?

At the heart of a backup power supply system is an internal combustion engine (diesel, gas, HVO or H2), which generates electrical energy via a generator. In the event of a power failure, the automatic changeover system detects the interruption and starts the emergency power system within a few minutes. If required, a backup battery delivers to connected consumers without interruption even in the event of power fluctuations. Modern systems are fully automated, remotely monitorable and redundant — for maximum supply security.

What output ranges do Frerk generator sets cover?

Our standard units, which are available immediately, cover the entry-level range from 3.5 kVA to 110 kVA. We implement power generation solutions — even without interruption — up to 10 MW per unit.

Can the customer get a turnkey system from Frerk?

If required, the customer can obtain all services from design to installation and commissioning from Frerk with a minimum of interfaces.

Has Frerk already implemented a backup power supply with hydrogen?

To ensure the uninterrupted power supply of a drinking water transfer station and a power conversion station, we have successfully implemented solutions using hydrogen fuel cells.

How do I define the right benefit to protect my electrical loads?

Our team of experts will be happy to advise you on this and design a solution based on your circumstances and requirements that is neither undersized nor oversized.
